There are few things more magical than an owl on a desert night.  The silent glide, the turn of that wise face, and the glow of those great eyes. Owls are also some of the hardest-working neighbors we have, quietly keeping rodent populations in check while we sleep.

It's a familiar scene around Tucson: a coyote trots across a backyard, a javelina family wanders down the street, a snake suns itself on a warm patio, and someone reaches for the phone, upset that wild animals have turned up where they live.
